"Oh What A Night"...
"Late December back in '63, what a very special time for me, I remember what a night" Oops.....just reminiscing about Saturday night. What a fabulous time Sandy and I had at Club Retro on our girls weekend. The songs were fantastic and we sang and danced our butts off. In fact we sang so loudly that I still have a husky voice three days later...lol. So here's the lowdown on the weekend.
On Friday afternoon Mackenzie woke up from her sleep with a 38.7 temperature. I'm freaking out thinking there goes my weekend! So down the hatch goes the Panadol and I wait to see the fever disappear. By 8pm she's not better, so more Panadol it is. By midnight she is worse, so I had to bring out the big guns. Look out Nurofen, here we come. The poor little darling couldn't get to sleep, which meant no-one in the house could get to sleep. Even Jordan kept getting up and coming out of her room (not unusual, just more annoying when we already had one awake!). I ended up dragging Mackenzie's cot mattress into our room and putting it onto the floor next to me and sticking her there, but she still wouldn't settle. By 2am I gave up and put her in our bed, then in comes Jordan again, so she ended up sleeping on the mattress on the floor. There was no way in the world that four people were going to fit in a queen size bed. Soooooo, anyhoo, I was seriously thinking by this stage that my weekend outlook was not looking good. Fortunately, when we all woke up on Saturday morning, all was well. Not a fever in sight. YAY!!!
Sandy arrived around lunch time and we drove into the city and checked into the lovely Grace Hotel. Then we hit the shops. Sadly, as is always the way when you have money to spend and time to try on all the clothes in the world, you can't actually find anything that you like! Very frustrating, but it was still fun. So after several hours spent in the Myer City Store we headed to PJ O'Briens Irish Pub for a few glasses of wine, then headed out to dinner at a fabulous Italian restaurant at King St Wharf. Absolutely beautiful! Then it was off to Club Retro to boogie the night away. We collapsed into bed at around 2am after a wonderful night.
The next day we hit DFO Factory Outlets for another very disappointing shopping expedition, but nonetheless a FANTASTIC weekend. I hope that we can do it again another time. The kids coped perfectly well without me, so I don't see why I can't do it again. Jordan spent a very enjoyable weekend with Nanny and Poppy and Mackenzie had fun staying at home with Vic. It will probably be this time next year before I get to do it again, but oh well, it will give me something to look forward to.
Now, it's back to reality. I'm at work, I have a headache, and I feel like I'm coming down with the flu. I hope that I'm just tired after working 20 hours in two days.
