last day of our trip...

Tonight we leave for home. We have had a fabulous trip. The kids have been amazing - so easy to travel with. I was expecting it to be so difficult and it hasn't been. What a pleasant surprise! We are at Milo's house taking a little break before we head up towards LAX. We are meeting Mark at Redondo Beach for a bite to eat later this afternoon. He just flew in this morning. Mackenzie is sleeping and Jordan is playing Playstation with Nigel. They're playing ice hockey. Jordan has never seen a video game before - I think she's hooked...lol. Mum just called a little while ago and said that her and Dad are having a great time in New York. They loved their tour of Niagara Falls. I can't wait to hear all about their trip when they get back. Well, I'm not exactly looking forward to the flight tonight, but I am ready to be heading home. Three and a half weeks in a hotel room with four people is really enough. We have bought so much stuff (that should read I, not we...hehe) that we had to go to the Goodwill store and buy another suitcase. So we have 5 suitcases, 2 backpacks, 1 camera bag, 2 strollers and 2 kids to get on the aircraft. Should be fun. So, see you all soon, we'll be home tomorrow.

just hangin' ...

We are just hanging out in Anaheim now. We have been to Disneyland twice. Friday was the best. We went in the morning then came home so that the kids could rest, then we went back for the afternoon and evening. We stayed until the park closed at 10pm so we got to see the parade, the laser show on the water and of course the fireworks. The kids had the best time and so did we. It was worth this whole trip just to see the kids faces at Disneyland. They absolutely loved it. Jordan went on the rollercoaster at least 5 times and we got to go on all of the fun rides. It wasn't too crowded, so it worked out great.
Mum and Dad leave tomorrow for their Toronto and New York trip. The kids will really miss them. We still have until Friday, so we will just be doing some last minute shopping and catching up with friends before we head home. We have had such a wonderful trip. The kids have been great and it's been really fun. Hopefully I will get a chance to update again before we leave.

disneyland...

We are having a lovely time in Anaheim. It is really, really hot. We went to Disneyland on Tuesday and had a great time. We are going again tomorrow. This time we will go in the afternoon and stay until 10pm to see the fireworks. That way it won't be as hot. Mum and I have been shopping up a storm. We usually go out when the kids fall asleep in the afternoon. We can get so much done in a couple of hours without the kids...lol. We have been eating out at some nice places. Last night we went to the Rainforest Cafe at Downtown Disney. That was a lot of fun. Even Mackenzie sat still throughout the entire meal. That's a first...lol. There was plenty for her to look at while she ate. We went to watch Milo play ice hockey on Monday night. Jordan absolutely loved that. You should have heard her cheering from the stands. Just like Mummy :o) Oh well, off to enjoy the rest of the trip. Will update again as soon as I can.

leaving la jolla...

Today we leave La Jolla where we have spent the past week enjoying the glorious weather and hanging out with our cousins. The kids have had such a great time playing with Ellie and going to Legoland and Seaworld. Mackenzie is much better now thanks to loads of medication and the wonderful doctors at the San Diego Children's Hospital. Can't wait to see the bill for that...lol. We are going out to brunch with all of the family this morning then we are heading up to Anaheim where we will stay for the next two weeks. The kids are really looking forward to going to Disneyland. Will update again when I can.

not so fun...

We had to take Mackenzie to the ER last night. The poor little darling has pneumonia. She had woken up early in the morning coughing really bad, then by the afternoon she was having difficulty breathing. It was so scary. We took her to a Medical Centre and they referred us to the Children's Emergency Room. They were so good there. They put her on some breathing medication for a while and did chest x-rays and then released her at around 2am. We got home and she slept good and today she is so much better. She is on lots of different medication to help her breathe, but she is good now. Hopefully she will get over this quickly and we can all enjoy the rest of our holiday without any further visits to the hospital.

fun in the sun...

We are having a fabulous time in La Jolla. The kids adjusted to the new time zone the second day, so we only had one troublesome night. We've been eating dinner at Rhonda's house so the kids can run around with cousin Ellie then we go home to our hotel room around 8.30pm and the kids are asleep by about 9.30pm. We are all sleeping in until around 8.30am, so it is great. We went to Legoland today, an amusement park about 40 mins north of here. It was great. It is designed for small kids so it worked out great. Jordan went on the roller coaster 3 times and absolutely loved it. She rode with her arms in the air and laughed the whole way. Mackenzie was a bit short for most of the rides but she still had fun at the little kids playland and on the train and the boat rides. We are here until Friday then we head up north to Anaheim where we will be staying for two weeks.

Jetlagged Babies

Well, we made it. After a very long trip we have just spent our first night in La Jolla, California. We are hanging with our cousins and the kids are having a ball. I have shopped my butt off at the Outlet Mall near the Mexican border, so it's all good. The kids are totally jetlagged and their sleep patterns are all off, so it wasn't much fun last night, let me tell you. After 36 hours without sleep I finally went to bed only to have Mackenzie wake up like she had just taken her daytime nap. So it's 1am local time and she is wide awake. There was nothing I could do to convince her to go back to sleep, so we were all awake in our hotel room until 3am. She finally went to sleep around 4am, which was like 9pm to her. It's going to be really hard for a few days until the kids get into the new time zone. I am managing okay with a little help from double shot espressos from Starbucks...lol.
Anyway, will do my best to keep this updated. Hopefully will have some pictures soon. I haven't even unpacked my camera yet. Hi to everyone at home and will update again soon.

Father's Day

We had a lovely Father's Day on Sunday. Mum, Dad, Darren, Scott and Vic's parents all came over here for a BBQ. It was a lovely day. A few spots of rain meant we had to eat indoors but it didn't amount to anything so we spent the afternoon watching the kids playing outside. Very enjoyable. Here are some photos from the day. PS. 3 more sleeps.....woohoo!

I See Stick People

Check this out, the girl can draw stick people! How cute is this. All of a sudden Jordan is drawing people. Mind you, their arms come out of their head, but hey, she just turned three. I'll cut her some slack there. We just wrapped up some pressies for Vic and my Dad for Fathers Day and Jordan wanted to draw on the paper. So she drew some portraits. Can you see the resemblance? Here's the budding artist showing off her work.

Spring Is Here

After a cold, wet, miserable winter full of runny noses, coughs, sore throats and "you name it we had it" sicknesses, spring is finally here! Today is gorgeous - 30 degrees according to the temperature doody in my car. Glorious! Seeing as though it is only 6 more sleeps until we go to America, I feel like I can safely say that our winter is over. Of course now that I have said that it will probably snow this week....lol. So yes, we are counting down the days until we leave. I am so excited. I can't wait to see my favourite aunty and cousin and her family. I am especially excited because I will meet her new son, Linden, who is 2 months old. I wish we weren't so far away from each other, it would be so cool if we were living in the same country. Oh well, we will have to be content with the occasional overseas trips so that we can catch up with each other.
Nothing much exciting to report here. I have been a bit slack with the updates lately. All of my energy lately has gone into working and getting ready for this trip. I will try and update the blog while we are away, but it will depend on me having access to the internet. That may not happen all that frequently.
I will leave you with a sneak peek of a little album that I made for my best bud's gorgeous daughter - Baby Piper (as she is referred to by my girls and probably always will be...lol)
